ADAPTIVE RADIATION THERAPY – AN EXTRAORDINARY APPROACH

We have treated thousands of patients for prostate and other urinary cancers and have highly focused expertise in these conditions. If your cancer treatment plan includes radiation, you want the best available treatment. Introducing Adaptive Radiation Therapy. This new, extraordinary approach targets cancer cells while minimizing harm to healthy nearby tissue.

Here’s the difference.

At every treatment session, before radiation is delivered, your doctor has the option to adjust your treatment plan in real time, accounting for changes which may have taken place within your body since your last treatment.

Even small physiological changes can move your tumor to a slightly different location. Adaptive Radiation Therapy can account for those changes in your treatment plan.

This extraordinary precision helps target cancer cells and minimize harm to healthy tissue that surrounds your cancer.

If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, consult with your doctor to see if Adaptive Radiation Therapy is right for you.

WELCOME MICHAEL GALVIN, NEW CEO

Ensuring that excellent patient experiences and clinical outcomes remain top priority at The Urology Group and The Urology Group-Central Indiana, we are delighted to introduce Michael Galvin as our new CEO.

He’ll fill the role of retiring CEO Earl Walz, and comes to us with a deep understanding of managing physician practices and ambulatory surgery centers. Michael has served as Chief Operating Officer at Ortho Alliance (supervising 12 offices and 2,000+ employees), and in key leadership roles at Mayfield Brain & Spine and United Surgical Partners International. Michael is a graduate of the University of Dayton and earned his MBA at Xavier University. Welcome Michael!

FAREWELL TO RETIRING CEO, EARL L. WALZ

As we welcome Michael Galvin, we bid a very fond farewell to retiring CEO Earl L. Walz, a founding member of The Urology Group. During his 29 years, Earl’s leadership impacted healthcare not just in Greater Cincinnati, but throughout the country. Thanks in part to his guidance, The Urology Group is now one of the largest single-specialty groups of urologists in the United States. In 2008 Earl helped found the Large Urology Group Practice Association, and he also was a founder and first president of Greater Cincinnati’s Independent Physicians Collaborative.

“Earl’s leadership has left an indelible mark on The Urology Group. His vision and deep commitment to both our patients and our people have guided us through tremendous growth and change. We are grateful for the legacy he leaves and the strong foundation he built for our future,” said Dr. Gary Kirsh, president of The Urology Group.

MEND THE BEND, PEYRONIE’S IS TREATABLE

Portrait of confident business man standing with arms crossed in the conference room. Mid aged man wearing shirt and looking away.

One in ten men in the U.S. may have Peyronie’s disease. If your penis bends or arches during an erection, you’re probably among them. PD can be difficult to discuss with your doctor, but at The Urology Group we urge you to speak up.

We have treatment options that can straighten a curved penis and improve quality of life, including:

  • XIAFLEX®, the only FDA-approved medication for Peyronie’s disease. This new medication is injected into the scar tissue that causes your curve and breaks it down. It’s followed by stretching and straightening exercises you do at home. Learn more about XIAFLEX.
  • Extenders that use vacuum devices to stretch the penis.
  • Surgery to create equal lengths on both sides of your penis.
  • Penile prosthesis, a bendable or inflatable device implanted into your penis if you also experience erectile dysfunction.

If you think you have Peyronie’s disease and want to mend the bend, request an appointment to explore your treatment options.

SEX SHOULD BE FUN, NOT FRUSTRATING

Half of men in their 50s don’t enjoy sex like they used to. Erectile dysfunction is one of the primary reasons.

If your sex life is suffering because of ED, Low-intensity Shock Wave Therapy (LiSWT) may be right for you. This painless, long-lasting treatment improves blood flow to the penis, which improves an erection.

LiSWT is a natural approach to restoring sexual satisfaction. Sessions are non-invasive, last 15 minutes, and require no downtime (schedule a session for your lunch break). Find out if you’re a candidate for LiSWT.
