Giving back because we care

Our physicians and staff are involved in a wide variety of community projects. We especially enjoy opportunities to promote cancer research, early detection and prevention. From our annual prostate cancer walk to numerous charitable events we support throughout the year, we believe in giving back to the community we serve.

The Urology Group’s community service includes:

  • Prostate Cancer 5K/10K.The Urology Group has been hosting annual fundraising events for prostate cancer awareness and research programs since 2006. The walk/run has raised over $1 million for ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer. Along with support from local business sponsors and the community, the annual race draws over 1,000 participants and spectators each year. For the second year, in 2019, we will host “The Gentlemen Stakes 5K for Prostate Cancer” with our new partner, Belterra Park Cincinnati.
  • Community health seminars. We provide the general public with free, educational sessions about common conditions and how to explore treatment options. Topics cover overactive bladder, incontinence, male sexual dysfunction, enlarged prostate and prostate cancer.
  • Community Awareness. To raise funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer, our Movemberevent includes a public shaving of men who grew facial hair, including many of our own physicians and team members.
  • Community Partnerships.
    • Along with Mercy Health Foundation, we present the “Man Up! Men’s Health Expo,” an event that focuses on encouraging African American men to get screened for six important diseases, including prostate cancer.
    • Partnering with TriHealth, we provide urological services to patients through the TriHealth system.
    • In collaboration with Cancer Support Community of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky (CSC), we provide free, professionally led emotional and social support services to prostate cancer patients.
    • Joining with several local independent physician groups (ipcdoctors.com), we focus on ways to improve the flow and accessibility of patient health information.
  • Veteran events. We recognize and honor the contributions of our patients who have served in the U.S. military:
    • To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, in 2015 we sponsored and accompanied several of our patients who were WWII veterans on a trip to Washington, D.C.
    • To mark the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day, in 2016 we held a luncheon in Cincinnati for local veterans. Drawing nearly 70 WWII veterans, we believe it was the largest gathering of veterans that day outside events held in Hawaii. Local high school students took part by interviewing the veterans for a living history project.
    • In 2018 we paid tribute to more than 75 Korean War veterans with a patriotic program and celebration at GE Aviation’s Learning Centre.
