Large Urology Group Practice Association (LUGPA)

The Urology Group is a founding member of the Large Urology Group Practice Association (LUGPA), which represents more than 1,800 independent urologists across the country. In addition to technology and management tools, LUGPA offers member practices the support and resources necessary to provide the highest quality care to patients with acute and chronic illnesses of the genitourinary system.

LUGPA focuses on improving patient care through LUGPA’s information sharing, proactive government relations, practice management tools, leadership development, clinical trials, benchmarking and other innovative resources.

LUGPA can and has made a difference in legislation affecting independent practices, which ultimately helps provide patients with more focused and cost-effective treatment options. For example, LUGPA advocated for permanent repeal and replacement of the flawed Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula, encouraging policy changes that protect access-to-care for patients stricken with prostate cancer. LUGPA members have been a crucial part of initiating these advocacy efforts at home and on Capitol Hill by meeting with key decision makers in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Gary Kirsh, president of The Urology Group, testifies regularly in Congress to advocate for healthcare reform. Click here to see his most recent Capitol Hill testimony.
