Michael Galvin, MBA
Chief Executive Officer
Michael is well known in the physician practice community in Cincinnati and brings decades of operational experience to his role as CEO. Before joining The Urology Group, he was Chief Operating Officer for OrthoAlliance for four years. He also previously served in leading and leadership roles for Mayfield Brain & Spine and United Surgical Partners International as well as ASC joint ventures with The Christ Hospital, TriHealth, and Premier Health.
Stephen Kappa, MD, MBA
President
In 2025 Dr. Kappa was named President of The Urology Group. In his role he provides leadership and oversight for all clinical operations. Dr. Kappa graduated from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed his residency in urologic surgery at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and also holds an MBA from Vanderbilt.
Brooke B. Edwards, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Edwards graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2009 and completed her residency in urology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va. She earned her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Indiana University, Bloomington. A member of the American Urological Association as well as the Société Internationale d’Urologie, Dr. Edwards is licensed in the commonwealth of Kentucky and the state of Ohio. She currently serves as Chief Medical Officer for The Urology Group.
Aaron Bey, MD
Chairman of the Board
Dr. Bey serves as Chairman for The Urology Group's Physician Board. His leadership ensures the voices of physicians are at the forefront of any decision the group makes to better serve patients. Dr. Bey graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2004 and received his surgical and urology training at Indiana University. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati in 2022.
Gary M. Kirsh, MD
President Emeritus
Dr. Kirsh was the founding President of The Urology Group, starting that tenure in 1998 and lasting until 2025 when he turned the reins over to the next generation of leaders. Dr. Kirsh combined a clinical perspective with strong business acumen to lead the group in becoming one of the premier independent urology organizations in the country. Dr. Kirsh graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1984. He received his surgical training at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and his urology training at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University.
Earl L. Walz
CEO Emeritus
Earl Walz served as the Chief Executive Officer of The Urology Group until Sept 1, 2025. He brought decades of operational experience in both the business and clinical aspects of health care. Prior to being appointed CEO, he served as Chief Operating Officer for The Urology Group. A Certified Medical Practice Executive, Earl sits on several corporate and government medical advisory boards and is a co-founder of the Large Urology Group Practice Association.
