Dr. William Monnig, Founding TUG President, Passes Away

March 29, 2022 | By: Dr. Gary Kirsh

It is with sadness that we report the passing of Dr. William Monnig, former president of The Urology Group. He passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the age of 79.

Dr. Monnig grew up in Cincinnati. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1969 and received his surgical and urology training at the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Monnig practiced with several other physicians in Northern Kentucky who eventually joined other private urology practices in the Cincinnati area to form The Urology Group in 1996. He was the initial president of the group and served until 2008.

Dr. Monnig was active in organized medicine, consistently advocating for physician interests.  He was the inaugural president of the Large Urology Group Practice Association (LUGPA) in 2008, and he was a past president of the Kentucky Medical Association. He also served on multiple committees of the American Medical Association.

Dr. Monnig leaves behind two sons, Tom Monnig and Aaron Monnig.
