The Urology Group Named Finalist for Health Care Heroes Award
February 22, 2024
The Urology Group is humbled to have been named a finalist this evening of The Cincinnati Business Courier’s Health Care Heroes Award for Community Outreach.
The Urology Group was honored for hosting a March 29, 2023, Cintas Center event featuring a 1970s era entertain-the-troops stage show to celebrate 500 local Vietnam War veterans and another 1,500 of their supporters.
“Honoring veterans is a terrific way for us to show concern for our patients,” The Urology Group CEO Earl Walz said. “We’ve celebrated World War II vets and Korean War vets and felt the 50th anniversary occasion was the perfect opportunity to honor Vietnam vets. Ours was the greatest salute to these heroes anywhere in the country that day.”
The once-in-a-lifetime tribute to local Vietnam vets was hosted free-of-charge to the 2,000 attendees. Vietnam War hero and National Football League star Rocky Bleier was the keynote speaker, joined by local media and sports world dignitaries who provided a much-belated Welcome Home. Music from the 1970s rocked the house, and vets were honored in traditional pinning ceremonies acknowledging their service and sacrifice.
Dr. Mark Delworth of Cincinnati’s The Urology Group talks about what it means when cancer metastasizes, as appears to be the case with former President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer. He emphasizes how critical early and regular screening is in order to catch cancer before it reaches the stage of spreading. Listen to the full interview…
