Michael X. Garrett is a retired U.S. Army four-star general who led combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan during his 38-year military career. In this Cincinnati Enquirer piece he shares his personal experience with a Vietnam Veteran – his father, who had a 35-year career in the U.S. Army himself.
